A designer-pattern build: a repeating monogram-style motif hand-painted across the toe box and quarter panels in grey and black. The pattern is drawn freehand and aligned to the panel seams, which takes considerably longer than it looks like it should. Alignment is the whole job here - a repeating motif that drifts across a seam is immediately obvious, and it cannot be corrected after the fact.
